  1. Alone In peace Undisturbed Actually. If its anything like my experience. Sipping whiskey, enjoying a cigar, with my dog at my side. Music and friends are mixed into the equation occasionally.
  2. To varying degrees, yes. But that does not prove that these went through a barrel. Rule states that the bullet must completely pass through the hard cover to not count as a hit. Even elongated hits could count since a glancing hit that doesn't strike wholly within hard cover could tumble. Of course an elongated hole would have to have some type of crown or grease mark to count. - visible evidence rule 9.5.5 9.1.6.3 - partial hard cover rule.
  3. Sorry for the drift on the popper reshoot. It was an interesting sequence of events. Popper was in first 1/3 of the stage and I stopped myself after 4 clean hits that didn't fall it. (I knew then and now that I should have kept shooting the stage since it could have not been a REF). BUT I didn't have enough ammo to finish the stage, reshoot, and continue the match so I just stopped. In my mind I knocked down the ones earlier at 20+ yards so this 10 yarder should fall easy. I looked back at RO an said "I'm done". Reply "uhh, IF you are done ULSCHDH, are you contesting?" At that moment I said "let's take a look at it". Reply "no cant disturb it". After the open shooter knocked the popper I walked up to inspect it and it fell forward about a foot (hinge was cracked in half). That's when the RO asked MD if it's REF. So as you can see some of the RO replies were good and the outcome on the popper was okay. But the whole thing got me cooked up about the barrel thing do I started reading a lot when I got home to protect my score next time. Moral of the story I've gathered from this: Speak up if you think what's going on is wrong...even if you are a new shooter. Best case you could be right, worst case you get educated.
  4. Round normal holes, just no grey ring in the tears. Was shooting WWB 9mm fmj. No distortion. The same WWB that failed to knock down a popper at 10 yards after 4 calibration zone hits. (got a reshoot after we confirmed the popper was broken) Of course, when I contested the calibration the same RO asked for another 9mm shooter to come shoot it from same spot. The other shooter knocked it down with one hit (and my 4). Of course his was hand loaded. And he had a comp on his gun so it probably was loaded a bit on the strong side. This same match had almost every shooter in our squad have to reshoot at least one stage. I hade 3 reshoots on one in particular. Rough day at the range for all.
  5. There were long shots, but the whole target was visible from shooting location (as were hits) There was no "defined shooting location" and the targets had an area of engagement that was determined by shooter's physical makeup. Luckily I am short enough that I could shoot under some low places without hitting the deck. They were round holes. Funny enough they were long shots and A zone hits. The question remains whether it was really hard cover or not. I will definitely go back to shooting location next time and take a look.. Thanks for the idea!
  6. Here's the stage in question. And I noticed that they put that the steel was hard cover. When looking at 4.2.4 I noted that the targets were at one point or another fully visible (except for what was covered by the no shoot). Wouldn't this cause the barrels to be Hard Cover. So to satisfy all requirements would the WSB have to say what is soft cover? Seems to put the definition in limbo. 4.2.4 When the scoring area of a paper target is to be partially hidden, course designers must simulate hard cover in one of the following ways: 4.2.4.1 By actually hiding a portion of the target (see Rule 4.1.4.1). 4.2.4.2 By physically cutting targets to remove the portion deemed to be hidden by hard cover. Such targets must be fitted with a replacement non-scoring border, which must extend the full width of the cut scoring area (see Rule 4.2.2). 4.2.4.3 By painting or taping the portion of the target deemed to be hidden by hard cover a single and visibly contrasting color.
  7. So assume ya got 2 Classics stacked beside and slightly behind two 55 gallon blue barrels (best 2 on each IPSC Score). The barrels are shot up and as "Holy" as most of my socks. Barrels are not described as Soft cover in stage description so they were considered hard cover by rule. 9.1.6 I had 2 hits on each Classic. None were scored because RO says, "I don't see grease marks on these holes so they must have gone through the barrel." Now, this was match 3 for me and first at this range and at the time I was thinking ...let's not rock the boat, RO's always right... "Whatever, Yeah I agree." So it's scored as misses. Fast forward and I'm reading more and more rulebook, at first I was thinking since the targets were left wholly in tact that the barrels were soft cover and shoot through is OK. But since they were not declared as Soft Cover in the stage description they are not soft. EDIT: Ok, so the barrels didn't totally obscure part of the target, but NO SHOOTS were stacked in the mix What say y'all?
  8. As a blatant example of gaining an advantage by stacking. Consider CM 99-61 Sit or Get Off the Shot. If it's only the hits on paper that count, and stacking is allowed: String 1: Freestyle: Shoot T1 with 3 shots, and then T2 with 1 shot. String 2: Strong hand: Shoot T2 with 2 shots, and then T3 with 2 shots. String 3: Weak hand: Shoot T3 with 1 shot, and then T4 with 3 shots. I believe that I can get better times and hits by stacking this way. Even if one procedural was applied for not following the stage procedure of engaging targets a specified, I think it may still be worth it for the time gained and points... at least at my current skill level where transitions are slow, and weak hand shots at small targets are iffy. Maybe, but by giving up half of the available points tp penalties, it seems unlikely. However, if that really would improve your score, take two asprin, dry-fire every day and call me in three months. So what y'all is sayin is that there is no advantage? (unless you don't get caught) Or is my reading comprehension lacking? Maybe we should quit gaming and just worry about getting better at shooting?
  9. Forgive my ignorance. What would be the advantage of stacking shots, if any. If shooting Virginia count only the allowed hits available by round count would score.?.? Right? So if you stack, you willingly miss another target...this would be a miss -10 and the extra hit would not score.
  10. Or maybe reading, writing, or attention.

  15. What production gun will accept a trigger as a hammer? A hammer as a slide stop? Maybe a grip screw as a firing pin? I just read the post you referenced and my comprehension does not follow what you are saying. The slide stop on the gun was too long, replaced with shorter slide stop. Not a different part. Appendix 4: 22 Please note that the absence of an item in the list of prohibited modifications MAY NOT be construed to mean a modification is allowed. A modification is only allowed in Production Division if there is a rules clause or interpretation which specifically declares that it is allowed in the Division.
  16. Wanting to get opinions on what basic kit would be suggested for the small DIY jobs? I hear Grace is a standard and am leaning that way. I will be working on Smith M&P, AR's, Rem 1100 shotguns....That's about it. What's a good deal?
  17. I'll add a vote for the Bladetech DOH. Ordered from Shooter's Connection on a Sunday (with the BE discount) and killer shipping time got it to me Tuesday.
  18. I ordered a bladetech doh from them about 15 minutes before that post! I was on there looking for a CR speed Belt and grabbed the holster while I could. Now I just need to grab a case of ammo and practice. What is everyone's preference for factory ammo? 115, 124, 147? What brand will make minor 100% of the time but not have the flip of the WWB 115's?
  19. So far I'm liking the grip fit and trigger face. I noticed that the striker plunger has some (looks like milled) rings on the face where the trigger bar pushes up on it. Makes the trigger feel really gritty, but the break puts the Glock to shame. I think that has something to do with the fact that the trigger press doesn't cock the striker. I've got a set of yellow shooting glasses on order so I'm worried about how the FO front sight will show up. Anyone have any experience on this? Also. Looking for a Blade tech DOH if anyone knows where one is!!!
