Finally read the FAQs

Finally read the FAQs (3/11)

  1. I personally am not worried about the different Rival-S versions anymore. The only thing I want now are OEM barrels that will actually fit all of the different iterations so that I can have one ported. Or maybe I'll just buy a second Rival-S when I come across one.
  2. I use an empty protein powder jug that I fashioned to work with the tumbler (Frankford Arsenal) and I lined the inside with a towel. I would then tumble the wet brass until they were dry. I used to just put maybe 600-800 9mm on a regular size bath towel and then make a "hammock"-shaped thing with the towel and then shake it back and forth. That worked pretty well, too, until I became too lazy. Both methods could dry each batch of 600-800, sometimes up to 1,000, within minutes. I also have a dehydrator that simply took too long. This video was way before I did the protein powder jug method:
  3. Thanks! Unfortunately, I bought the older design and have to use O-rings with them to prevent the over-insertion. I might have to look at getting these, too.
  4. Sorry for the off-topic, but which basepads are these 'Nils edition' ones? Are these the same ones? https://taylorfreelancestore.com/canik/mag-extensions/mete-rival-specific/?sort=priceasc
  5. Here's a link to the other thread started a few days ago:
  6. Can't you just ask for a replacement bushing from where you bought it from?
  7. I shoot IDPA and I don't care for this comp'd polymer Rival at all... especially at the price range it's in. In my opinion, this is just a money grab by TTI. I personally want another steel frame. Though my magazines with TF/aftermarket basepades cause over-insertion issues more than half of the time, the O-ring "fix" is holding for now and my gun has otherwise ran flawlessly. However, on ported Rival/Rival-S, I've seen they do shoot flatter. I'd do that if I had a spare barrel just to try it, but otherwise my gun the way it is shoots perfectly fine and flatter than my X5 Legion, CZS2, G34, etc. Besides, from what I understand, there are more than 2 different versions of OEM Rival-S barrels. Haha. I wish Canik would just address these issues and revisions already.
  8. Here's a video from David, a fellow club member and shooter.
  9. I think it would have been better if Canik issued a statement regarding the issues that their polymer and steel guns are having. Knowing that polymer and steel slides (and frames) are not interchangeable, it doesn't give me much confidence in a new gun of the same series from Canik. And by looking at this, I'm sure the steel version will follow shortly just like the non-compensated. Again, not as exciting for me this time around if the dependability of the Rivals are still a big question mark.
  10. So it looks like my Rival-S is NOT the new one like I thought... or maybe it's new but not the 'newest'. I wonder if there's a service out there than can widen the channel to match the 'newest' version?
  11. It seems to have been if you stick with the OEM base pads, at least that's the case for me. With my magazines that use TF basepads (+0 for IDPA), I've had to use the O-ring "fix" to alleviate any over-insertion issues that might occur. If the OEM Canik aluminum basepads were cheaper or if the plastic ones were only a little taller (to stick out a little bit from the magwell), I would prefer those over aftermarket plus O-ring. Alas, that's asking for too much it seems.
  12. Ah. I've only owned a couple of those and though neither have failed on me, I understand. For the red dots I own now, I just change batteries and/or carry spares on me. To your question in your original post, have you checked with Warren or Dawson for a taller front sight post? That is if you feel you really need to have irons on your comp gun. I've run DPP in my G34, Rival-S, X5 Legion, PCC (as secondary), etc. and have not had the need for irons on any of them. All of my comp pistols have no front or rear sights. I've always taken them off ASAP if they're for CO/LO.
  13. Which red dot was it that failed on you? I'm curious so I stay away from it. Hehe. I own multiple Holosuns and Leupold DPPs. Not a single one has failed on me. So, at least for me, and as @bigtimelarry says, I never run my comp guns with irons. Just something to snag on something, lose skin or cut my hand, in my opinion.
