Jay870
Needed to replace Solo 1000 and have been working up some test loads with WSF and figured I'd post the data I've collected. Jay870
How did they feel? The 173PF loads felt good and shot good, and I'll be happy if I can find a bullet and COAL combo that puts me at that PF with better consistency. The 180+PF loads were noticeably harsher. FortyOverUnder
I'm still trying to find a major load that I like as much as N320. I have a few pounds of WSF and WST, TG, and all the other popular ones. Just no N320. I'd love to try Solo 1k or Ramshot Competition.
darkvibe
I also switched from solo but went with WST. I think WST is closer to solo in burn rate and feel.
Reshoot
WSF is my favorite 40 S&W powder.
Woodsk
I really like WSF, but it is inverse temperature sensitive. 171pf 35 degrees chronos at 164.8 at 95 degrees. don't ask me how I learned that
Jay870
Pistol: CZ Tactical Sport Powder: Winchester Super Field Bullet: Bayou Bullets 180gr TC (with lube groove) COAL: 1.130 Brass: Speer Once Fired Roll Sized Primer: Winchester Small Pistol Primer Temp: 75F Charge: 5.3gr Average: 984.6 FPS Spread: 21 Standard Deviation: 7.77 Power Factor: 177.12 Hmm... shortening the COAL .005 sure seems to have a big effect or I'm not balancing my beam scale quit right. Going to work up 5.1 & 5.2gr and try again. That is well below starting load.

I think the real question is... what the hell are you doing chrono'ing at 35 degrees!? Lol.
sbo76
I have 8lbs of WSF so I though what the hell. I didn't shoot enough of them to speak about clean or dirty but they felt as soft as my n320 loads. 5.5g WSF 1.1800 OAL Crimp .416 WSP Extreme Plated 180g ~90* outside (love az in the early morning) These were shot through a SS with a 5" Kart Barrel (know to be a bit faster than normal) My first shot is always slow out of this gun. 908 981 945 953 930 930 931 954 ~941.5 PF 169.
Smokecloud
I have been playing with 5.0 gr of WSF at 1.165 for my STI, shooting 180gr Cast bullets that I powder coat. They are averaging 900 fps, I thought it felt like Titegroup at 800fps, the WSF shoots soft. Looking at the PSI difference between the two powders makes me like the WSF even more. I have 9 lbs of it, I think im going to run it for a while and give it a good test, so far I really like it. This load is for 3gun stuff and if I need to bump it up to make major for USPSA, I think 5.3 gets me there barely. I will have to watch the temp sensitivity though and figure out what is a good year round load that will keep me at Major.
tanfoglio1911
WSF is my favorite powder for limited and open STI in 40. Very soft!!
