Fingi
Bolt catch is completely loose as if there is no spring under it. If i tilt the gun to the left it ill activate under its own weight and hold the bolt back even with a mag loaded. Is this normal for the GMR. Or should it have a spring loaded catch like regular AR lowers? Thanks Link to comment
L9X25
It has a spring and plunger, just like any other AR, and should return on it's own. Link to comment
Fingi
Well i think the guys at JP missed it at the QC station because mine will activate on its own if you tilt the gun counter clock wise at about 75-80 degrees... Match tomorrow... Awesome. Link to comment
L9X25
Sucks that they missed it, but it is an easy fix and will likely not cause a problem. Gravity should keep it down. Link to comment
Fingi
Put some electric tape on it. I dont need the Bold hold anyway. You think ill have to send it in our could they send the spring for me to fix? Link to comment
MikieM
I certainly don't see why you couldn't purchase a return spring from them, and considering the circumstances they might even give you one. Ask them, and see. Link to comment
L9X25
I would pull the bolt catch off and look in the hole to see what happened. Maybe the plunger is stuck inside of the hole? Maybe they neglected to install it? Maybe the spring collapsed? Check it out and let them know. Hopefully it is a simple fix where they just send you the spring/plunger and you are back in business. Fingi
Ran today's match with a few strips of super 33 tape on top of the catch. Not a single hiccup the whole day. Took 6 out of 56 overall with the gun. Will call them up tomorrow. Link to comment
L9X25
I would paint that tape black, to match the receiver, and call it a day. You don't want to fix what isn't broken do you? Link to comment
Fingi
Yeah its black tape alright but for a 1,700 plus dollar gun... you bet they are getting a polite call this week. The gun absolutely rocks and ill keep this thing for a while if not ever... but perfect it aint, and thats part of the thing i was buying in when i picked JP. Link to comment
L9X25
Polite or not, I am sure they will take care of you. While 99% of their guns ship out with all of their parts, they have built a reputation for making things right when you are in the unlucky 1%. If you are not satisfied, ask to speak with John Paul and he will make it right. Link to comment
Fingi
The polite comment was not sarcasm. I work in manufacturing and this things can get overlooked on final assembly...human or machine...it ill happen. Talked to Dustin and Dan. Its a easy fix. They are sending in a replacement along with a spare firepin. Asked them to quote me a guide rod for it too since we are at it. Thanks for all the help Link to comment
Fingi
Now bolt catch plunger is binded...starting to think i should have gotten an MPX... Link to comment
alanm
I have had this problem due to carbon buildup making the plunger stick in. Link to comment
