Load for 115gr RN Xtreme bullet with CFE Pistol

I just bought some 115gr Xtreme RN bullets (not the heavy-plated ones)....I am loading to 1.140 OAL on these, with CFE Pistol powder...

What would be the range of powder loads?...minimum to maximum

Go to Hodgdon.com and plug your powder and bullet weight to get your max and min. I would never blindly trust load data from a forum without checking against published data.

I tested some 115 Xtreme RN loaded to 1.170" over CFE through my 5.4" 2011 with two 3/16" holes.  7.9gr made 171pf, how long is your barrel?  At 1.140 I would load some in the high 6s and work up from there in 0.2gr increments.

I don't think he is planning on shooting major. It would be a bad idea with those bullets anyway.

5-6 grains is a good range for that combo.

As long as you're not shooting past 10 yards you're OK

Concur.  I was making minor with a little bit of cushion using MG 124 JHPs at 5 grains and a bit shorter OAL, so I imagine to make minor with 115s at 1.14, you'd probably need at least 5.5 grains.  5.0 is probably a good starting point, and of course, as mentioned above, hodgdon's website is a good resource for load data with their powders as well.

Thanks guys.....I did look on the Hodgdon website first, but only saw a 115gr lead and HP bullet load specs, so that is why I was asking the Forum....

I decided not to load with CFE afterall, and went back to my N320 loads that I have used for years..
