  1. I followed the instructions on reversing the safety in my 1301, found here: https://forums.brianenos.com/topic/195183-reversing-the-safety-on-a-beretta-1301/ While the trigger group was out of the shotgun, the safety worked as designed. After re-inserting it into the frame and installing the cross pin that keeps in place, I am not able to pull the trigger. I pulled and replaced the trigger group several times, with the same results. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
  2. I have a brand new Beretta 1301 Competition. I ran ~50 shells through it (just 7.5 shot, Estate Target loads) before a local 3 Gun match yesterday. I'm having trouble with loading that first shell from the mag tube. For the match, we pre-load the tubes in a staging area then chamber when we get to the line. I could not get that first shell to load onto the carrier so I could rack it in. I'd hit the little button and nothing would happen. Well, maybe once out of a dozen tries did the shell. If I held the bolt open and forced a shell onto the carrier through the ejection port it would cycle fine through the stage. Being that this gun is new to me, I don't know if I'm doing something out of sequence or if there's a defect. The manual isn't helping. I've tried these steps in various combinations: - empty chamber, rack it, pull trigger, safety engaged, fill tube, hit the button (not the bolt release). does anyone have the definitive answer to what series of steps are involved making the Beretta happy? Thanks!
  3. So I have a 1301 issue that I have not been able to find mention of online. The lifter "locks" on me, when it should not be doing so. Sometimes with a round in the chamber (though not always), sometimes with rounds in the tube (though not always). The other symptoms here: Shell Release button is hard to press when this happens, much harder than it normally is. If I press the bolt release (in the normal bolt release "direction"), it will "unlock" the lifter, which I suppose is expected. Here is the recreation of it. Note that in this example it only did it on the last round (tube was empty, one was in the chamber), but that is not always the case. This has happened after one shot with a full tube: Recreation of issue Here is what *may* be a possible related side-effect or cause: Side-effect? Has anyone seen this? What I have done wrong (I am sure that this is user-created). Along those lines, the gun has had only minimal modifications: Loading port hogged out +4 round Nordic tube/spring Thanks!
  4. Benelli M2 chokes work with Beretta 1301 ? thanks
  5. Took my wife along to the Johnson 3 gun match this past weekend and now I am no longer getting a new shotgun for myself, she wants one. The budget is going to allow either a pretty much stock Beretta 1301 or Stoeger M3000 worked over into the P3K when the design is finalized. These 2 guns are picked because they are: 1. The 2 I was already looking at for myself. 2. Reliable and budget friendly. 3. Not heavy guns. This leads me to a few questions. While not terribly recoil sensitive, is the 1301 gas system going to be noticeably softer shooting than the inertia M3K when both are properly fitted and have good recoil pads? I have already read Patrick Kelley's article on shotgun fit and have applied it to my current shotgun. She has handled both guns in stock form but not shot them. Currently holding a 1301 she has to turn her head almost sideways and scrunch down to even sort of get on the sights. The stock needs to drop a good bit and some cast off be applied to even get her close. The long LOP of the stock M3K make other adjustments irrelevant to start. Between the 1301 and the M3K, which has more adjustment for drop and cast or will they both be about the same? My plan is to get either shotgun and the shim kit and attempt to properly fit it before she ever fires the gun. LOP will be cut to 12.5 inches with recoil pad installed. This will hopefully allow me to correct pitch with shims as well cast and drop while still maintaining a shorter LOP. I'm just guessing that proper LOP will come out to between 12.5 and 13 inches based of stock adjustments made to shotguns when I was growing up. My shotgun now has a 13 1/4 length of pull which is far to long for her. Any advice on this plan would be greatly appreciated.
