Will_M
Let me start by saying that I LOVE wood stocks on guns. I have them on every gun I own that they are available for. I'm having a limited gun built and I want the most unique one possible. Would it be possible to have a set of wood grips made???
wide45
Para yes, Caspian yes, CZ clone yes, STI/SV no. You could take one of the new aluminum grips, and put wood grained vinyl tape on it, but the results would be disturbing. If you are really determined, plane the sides of an aluminum grip flat, and bond on some wood veneer. Edited November 14, 2009 by wide45

What would prevent you from making a set for an STI/SV?
wide45
Perhaps not technically impossible, It would be quite a challenge. Quick look for an image of a STI grip turned up this, at Dawsons website. http://www.dawsonprecision.com/WSWrapper.j...ded_gun_sti.htm
G-ManBart
It might be doable with some sort of laminate that's strong and can be machined, but I still think it would wind up cracking before too long. R,
boz1911
Better have one hell of a woodworking shop I agree with Bart, wood would never hold up in some of the high stress areas. I would also venture even with a laminate, expansion and contraction would be an issue possibly causing mysterious malfunctions. Perhaps some very thin panels on the aluminum grip might work?? wide45
Would it be possible to do something like this? I did not watch the whole vid, but he was using very thin plastic grips. I don't believe it would work with wood.
