Rye
I've been using 124gr JHP for my Open but It's been out of stock and the only one available is 124gr FMJ. Do I have to change my load data and oal? Would it affect reliability and accuracy? Thanks....
Jaxshooter
The FMJs will lead your comp because of the exposed lead base. Use CMJs (complete metal jackets) if they are available. Check you load data in a reloading manual and then shoot it over a chrono. Different OALs and bullet profiles can make velocity and pressure changes causing different PFs. herky
The problem is the exposed lead base with the FMJ. Digging lead out of the comp is a pain.
UW Mitch
I've been using MG CMJs - With an FMJ, you have an exposed lead base, which is not ideal. With a JHP you have a covered base, but could run into feeding issues with the hollow-point running up the feedramp. The CMJ solves both. To you specific question - I used some JHPs and CMJs in my limited gun, and didn't change anything. ~Mitch
born-in-45
Why not order straight from Montana Gold? They show their 124 JHP in stock. Order a case and save a few dollars. Shipping is included and their delivery times have always been speedy (to San Antonio).
