jmurch
I am building a new carbine length rife and would like to be able to use it to try 3-gun. I have the opportunity now to go 16" or 18". I'd like to go 16" but want to make sure. I am using a 1:7.7 twist stainless and planning to shoot 77grn HPBT at around 2,800 FPS (24.5 grns Varget). I was told at a 3-gun match today that there are power requirements for sanctioned matches and that a 16" may not get the velocity that I need. Considering that I'm using 77grn bullets with 24.5grns of Varget my gut feeling is I will be OK. I saw a lot of guys today shooting factory loads out of 16" 1:9s. TIA, Jeff
superdude
the USPSA minimum power factor for minor is 150. your load (77 x 2800 = 215600 or 216) makes minor no problem. welcome to the most addictive and fun sport on the planet!
