223 Rem loads

Thought I'd start this thread and hope it will be useful enough to be "stickied" one day. There are enough questions that float by periodically on what loads go with what bullet, barrel length, etc.

For any reloader the general rule I use for working with somebody else's recipe is to:

1. Consult the reloading manual for the bullet and/or powder manufacturer

2. If the recipe is within an available range in the reloading manual, great to have that data referenced

3. Always, back down (i.e. reduce the powder load) by about 10% and work up to the recipe data

4. Watch for overpressure signs on the case

So ... please post your load recipe, rifle type, barrel length, and group results.

Recipe:

- Bullet type/manufacturer

- Bullet weight (grains)

- OAL

- Powder & weight

- Primer

- Case headstamp

Rifle used to develop recipe:

- Barrel length

- Barrel twist rate

- Make & model info

Group results:

- Distance to target

- Group diameter

- Number of shots fired

Cheers!

mixed range pickup brass, winchester small rifle primers, hornday or montana gold 55gr FMJ, 24 gr AA2230, seated to cannelure. about 2900 fps from 16" S&W M&P AR, approx 1" 5 shot groups prone with eotech from prone with eotech which is good enough that i've never bothered losing my zero with the eotech to put on a magnifying optic and test it from a bench... :)
