Low Power Division?

New shooter here, please forgive me if I've missed the obvious.

On Shooting gallery this week they were talking about Heavy Metal 3 Gun using a .308 or similar rifle, a 1911 in .45 and a 12 ga pump shotgun.

This got me wondering if there is a lightweight division where one could use their 10-22, 9mm minor pistol and 20 ga shotgun or some variation of equipment.

A light division would let cheapskates like me get a taste without having to sell the farm.

The 9mm and the 20 ga fit right into tac iron or tac optics, the 10/22 however is a no go, have to have a .223.-----------Larry

The tough part with a low power division would be scoring reactive steel targets. It's been brought up for pistol matches as a way to get juniors involved earlier. Some clubs do it now with just a hit on steel scoring. I don't think it would work for 3 Gun though because the targets are farther out and hits would be next to impossible to score. At a club level though it is fun. I think we did one a few years back with just .22s. You can also do a lot of your rifle practice with .22s to cut back on the cost.

Is .223 required? WWB gives me a 161 PF out of my 9mm rifle. Granted, it's not worth much over 100 yards, but for close stuff it's cheap and leaves larger, more visible holes.

min caliber is .223 (not .223 Remington) but anything bigger around will work as long as it make power factor.
