45 load reality check

Finally getting serious about a new 45 load for Single Stack.

Gun is a SA stainless, started life as a "Loaded Target" IIRC.

Given: mixed brass, Federal Primers, Bear Creek 230 gr moly, 1.240 OAL.

(at not to far past 1.240 the itty bitty land on the BC bullets bump the rifling)

Currently loading 4.1 Titegroup. TG is----OK. Looking for something cleaner/softer.

After SEARCHING I've come up with the following loads to try out, based

on the powder at hand.

4.0 Clays

3.8 N310

4.8 N320

Any of those look out of line? Any better suggestions? WST is readily available,

Solo 1000 would have to be ordered. I've got every VV powder from 310 to 105,

but 310 and 320 looked like the most popular.

I run 3.9 of clays behind a 230 LRN in my 5" single stack, 4.0 of clays in my 4" 625.

Don't remember the velocity, but it is definitely above 165 pf.

Good Luck

Kevin

I run the same load. 3.9 Clays behind 230gr lead bullets. I use 4.3 Clays behind 230gr jacketed bullets. All in a 5" Kimber and STI Eagle.
