What do I need to convert?

Recommended Posts

Here is a pic of what I currently have for a conversion to 9mm from .40.

The shellplate is a #3 which I presume is for 9mm and 38 super.

The shell placement do thingie has an "S" .

The expander die has the letter "F" on it.

I think the spring is/was for the detent ball under the shellplate?

So shopping list is:

1) 1050 quick change toolhead

2) 3 Carbide dies in 9mm

3) Toolhead stand

I want to be able to take off one toolhead and replace it with the 9mm, plus shellplate and be ready to rock. Did I get everything? Are the items in the pic appropriate for the conversion?

My advise: Do what I do, call Brian and tell him what you have for a press and what you want to do, he is patient and will get you all the right stuff on the first order at prices you can't beat. Get the deluxe kit with the powder measure and all of that stuff, just minutes to switch calibers and that is being generous. And get one of the big ass Dillon tumblers too, don't be a friggin' cheapskate, it is worth every cent.

Will the 40 cases work in a #3? I do not think they will. Try one and see. I use a "W" for both 9x19 & 40 S&W.

If you have the "W" shell plate, to convert from 40 to 9mm you need to replace the case feed plunger.

The tool head will have the rest.

I have the tumbler.

If the W works for 9mm, that is good news.

Sounds like the toolhead and dies, and use the 38 case feed plunger for the 9mm?

Same plunger as 38. "F: expander is for 38 / 9mm cases as well.

btw - # 3 shellplate is for 380 / 38 supercomp ( rimless ) / 223. It will not work with 9 x 19 or 38 super
