mike cyrwus
I did the obligatory opening up of the loading port on my M1, using Kurt's excellent oral directions. I find now that during weak hand reloads, I often get the shells hanging up at the 12 o'clock part of the mag tube opening. I did a little smoothing out up there, but I feel a little bit of resistance there as Im shucking them in during practice.. I am guessing that 1. Its always been like that, the polishing of the rest of the port makes it that much more noticable. 2. Welding up the front part of the gate, the forked part, will prevent the shell from going up too high and passing the mag tube , as well as save on thumbnails. 3. I probably need to remove the mag tube to get a better angle of attack on polishing/porting the metal around the top of the mag tube opening. Am I correct? kurtm
Welding up the gate will cure almost all of this. BTW don't you check your phone messages?? I left one about Wednesday ( now history) and one about FRIDAY...tomorrow. KurtM
