Thanks for sharing those. I hate NOVA, MD and DC... but do so love the archetectural icons of the US. I'm always amazed at the elegance.

I'm always most moved by Arlington.

Some silent video from the lst time I was there:

There's a great website about it out there. Can't remember off hand the address but their service is truly a testament to our armed forces.

We sat on the back (east) side of the Lincoln Memorial for over an hour watching Rolling Thunder. Early on in the parade several helicopters flew over the bridge and tipped in salute. One from HMX-1, one from the Coast Guard, and one blue Huey I didn't get the markings on.

At the Tomb of the Unknowns, the rust colored stains on the sidewalks mark the steps that the patrol makes. We watched an hour of VFW sponsored wreath-laying before the Changing of the Guard. The necessity of the patrol's issued sunglasses was quite apparent. Arlington on Memorial Day was a most moving experience.

The Custis and Lee families had a spectacular view of the Federal City across the river...

I appreciate those fine photos even though we live close enough to hear the bugle from Arlington for taps in the evening and revelie every morning. Living near D.C. has its downsides for sure. Thanks for reminding me of its upsides too.
