One Shooter-two Guns

Recommended Posts

USPSA didn't quite get the software right for allowing a second gun...at least...for how we like to run matches around here.

Details? What's missing? I think they gave it too much, as second gun shoots are "placed" for score within the results and affect hit factors and stage factors when a re-entry wins a stage. I almost reported that as a bug but thought well, maybe they really wanted it that way.

I think they thought the clubs wanted it that way.

The way we do reshoots is...only the first time through counts for score.

For reshoots, the clubs around here still score them seperate.

It would be nice if they reshoots were tags such that they showed up in the stage results in the proper hit factor order...but, just didn't recieve any stage points in the main (non-reshoot) match.

That way, you get the best of both worlds...the shooters get to see and compare their scores...and the reshoots don't change the outcome of the match.

Well..... that's actually what I wanted, too, but there were others that clamoured so vociferously for this ability at all that they got the full treatment just to make them be quiet, I think. For instance, if you've got 3 competitors that shot limited and placed as follows:

1. Joe Shooter Limited A1234 100pts

2. John No-Shoot Limited A2345 95pts

3. George Dropgun LImited A3456 40pts

I think the re-entry for George Dropgun shooting L10 should appear as follows

1. Joe Shooter Limited A1234 100pts

-- George Dropgun L10 Re-entry 96pts

2. John No-Shoot Limited A2345 95pts

3. George Dropgun LImited A3456 40pts

Instead of the re-entry being shown as finishing 2nd and John and George(Limited) drop down in place.

The issue there may be that George Dropgun may actually win the stage...get 100% of the points and still throw things off.

This is how Jeff Maass used to do it with our scores (by hand):

1 Farris, Kyle 51 0 5.44 9.3750 60.0000 100.00%

2 Anderson, Steve 52 0 6.50 8.0000 51.2000 85.33%

Farris, K. 52 0 6.50 8.0000 **Reshoot**

3 Cassell, Jeff 55 0 6.95 7.9137 50.6477 84.41%

4 Steel, Rick 55 0 7.03 7.8236 50.0710 83.45%

Yes, I didn't think of that until last December when it actually happened at a special classifier that we ran.
