jgobbels
All, I just purchased my first open gun, a used SVI Hybrib with 5 port comp. All in all the gun looks in good shape with an estimated 4K rounds thru the gun. I have a few questions: The area where the 3 ports on the barrell ride into the cut in the slide have some side to side movement when the gun is in battery. Not much, but I am able to move it. Problem with fit or is the gun starting to wear out in that area? The previous owner had made modifications to the grip safety making it inop???? Anyone else doing this??? I'm going to order a new grip safety to replace the one that is in the gun now. Thanks in advance, John~
Steve Anderson
Most competition shooters disable the grip safety on the 1911. I know I would NOT want a working grip safety on my open gun. I'll defer to others on the barrel issue. Enjoy yer blaster SA
lynn jones
jgobbels, all my raceguns have the grip safety disabled. if you get a incorrect grip on the gun or shift your grip the active grip will cost you. not all shooter deactivate the safety, but a lot do. lynn jones
Loves2Shoot
John, Don't waste your money replacing the grip safety. Most shooters eventually disable it anyway. It is of no use for IPSC shooters.
Larry White
John, I would not fix the grip safety on a match gun. It has to have just a little movement in the slide to function. If the the gun shoots good groups its ok. Larry
