Guest Dick W Holliday
some of my buddies have SV or STI's with big comps ect and they just won't work with light loads regardless of the recoil spring strength.....my ole timey race gun will work with anything if you put in the right recoil spring.... What gives with the new ones?? thanks....D I C K
L9X25
Dick, One common problem is the comp length and weight. Having a long/heavy multiple chamber comp, particularly with a heavy barrel, makes the gun cycle slow and sluggish with light loads. If the comp's design is efficient it makes the problem even worse. SV and other manufacturers have actually recommended that many of their older designs have the last port removed to shorten the comp (and make it lighter) and speed the cycling of the gun when cycling problems arise. Philip Dedmon
I have a Dawson #3 Comp on the new Steel Challenge gun Tommy built for me and it is working great. My load is a 115 gr. JHP at about 1080 fps.
