benos
It's been awhile since I've seen it - watched again last night. What a movie. Virtually every scene is hilarious in its subtle, dry way. I think it gets funnier every time you watch it. be
ErikW
Yup, it's a classic. You have to see Best In Show from the same group of people, and A Mighty Wind, currently in theaters, though I have yet to see it.
Patrick Sweeney
My wife and I love "Best in show", just saw "A mighty wind" and plan to rent/buy Waiting for Guffman. Sometimes the humor of this crew smacks you like a monty python fish in the face, and sometimes it sneaks up on you.

benos
I wanted to see A Mighty Wind as well, but it came and left here before I could see it. A week or two at max. ? Is there typically a standard time for movies making it to DVD?
Steve Anderson
All depends on ticket sales. If it left your theater that quick, the studio will want the cash from the dvd release pretty quick. SA
Patrick Sweeney
We liked AMW, but thought some parts were a bit slow. Obviously the writers were very attached to some bits, and thought they could pull them off. Even so, worth catching.
ErikW
I was told you have to listen to the lyrics in AMW. Sort of like Spinal Tap. ("Big bottom, big bottom, talk about mud flaps, well my girl's got 'em...")
benos
For some unexplainable reason, it's back in my local theatre today! A buddy saw it and said it was great. But he's real partial to that music... be
Patrick Sweeney
Waiting for Guffman was on cable the other night, and I caught it. Another dry, witty, sometimes screamingly funny movie. And isn't Parker Posey great. She only took a few seconds for me to believe she was this 85 IQ, never been out of the town she was born in, not really a tramp kid who wanted more than anything to be in theater. That and she is very high indeed on the "jumpable" list.
benos
Patrick, Yes, double-ditto on everything you said, especially about Parker Posey. Her interviews were just the shit. be
