stump
I'm using a Dillon 550 to reload my .45 colt. I'm using 6gr of Trail boss powder. My problem is that after charging each load I have extra powder coming out of the powder die/measure. I check the powder that actually makes it into the case and it's correct and consistent. Is this powder spilling common, or is there an adjustment to make? Thanks, Stump
scribble
I load the same caliber with trail boss but I load 5.5 grs with 200gr and I don't have this problem. I would check the powder funnel and look for debris or some thing sticking.
dillon
Be sure the powder bar is moving ALL the way over on the downstroke of the handle. The powder bar should be completely over to the other side well before the handle bottoms out. Cases should be flared at least .010".

It been suggested that I should be using the large bar. The instructions call for the small with charges of 3-20 grains; I'm using 6 grains. I'll check the bar movement and flare tomorrow. scooterj
You should be fine with the small powder bar. Sounds to me that your powder spillage is caused by static electricity. Empty your measure and wipe it out with a dryer sheet.
dillon
Due to the bulkiness of Trailboss, you need the large bar to throw 5+ grains.
scribble
Dillon, i have been using the small bar with no problems but I am only throwing 5.5 of it.
