sasquatch981
So I purchased a Kimber .22 conversion for practice and I love it. However, I would say 1 out of every 10 rounds will misfire. I manually cock the hamer back and pull the trigger again and bang. So my question is: if I put in a heavier mainspring, will that allow the hammer to fall with more force? Are there any other ideas I can try. I have tried the following ammo with the same results. American Eagle Copper Plated American Eagle Lead Federal Lead Eley Sport Lead Winchester Wildcat Lead Fiochii (sp) Copper Plated CCI Mini Mags Copper Plated Thanks
bompa
I was getting light strikes with the Cienier kit and Federal bulk ammo.. Went to a 19lb main spring and things improved immensely..Things go bang when they should..
DougCarden
Off the top of my head.....up the mainpring, or reduce the firing pin spring.....I would imagine the kit was set up for factory 1911s.....which would have a 23lb mainspring if built to regular specs....... Hope that helps some, DougC
LPatterson
Years ago the Wilson (Ciener) conversion kit came with a mainspring to be used when the slide was replaced. My solution was a S&A magwell for .45 and the original mainspring housing for the .22.
