WRanger
What pistol holster would you experienced 3-gun players recommend? I'm interested in a holster for an open gun that would give reliable retention during a combo stage (where shotgun/rifle and pistol would be used). Have used CR Speed holsters (good locking lever) but wondered if there was anything better..... Thanks for the help WRanger
BigDave
Are you talking about USPSA rules 3-gun or other matches? If it is USPSA, the rulebook stipulates that the butt of the hell of the handgun must be above the topline of the belt. Or spcifically: 5.3.6 Competitors shall not be permitted to commence a course of fire wearing...: 5.3.6.3 A holster with the heel of the butt of the handgun below the top of the belt; Basically, no drop holsters, anything else is good (race holsters like Safariland 010, 011, 012, CR Speed, Biachi Hemisphere, Extreme/Garcia are cool) From what I understand, other 3gun matches don't allow the racy holsters that USPSA allows, and many times drop holsters (like the Safariland 6004) are allowed. I believe Benny Coolie uses Kytac, or a similar Kydex holster, as an example.
ErikW
For an Open gun: CR, Garcia/Universal, Ghost, Limcat. As long as it has a lock.
WRanger
...Yes, for USPSA 3-gun (sorry, I should have been more specific), though it doesn't sound like the "other" 3-gun matches would allow an open-type pistol..... Good to hear that CR is included in your recommendations...I'll take a look at some of the others. Thanks for the help! WRanger
