Taio
Is it possible for the 1911 magazine to be riding too low? When I have the slide locked back, and insert a fresh mag, if I push the mag up a little more, the round has almost a straight shot to the ramp into the chamber. Ocassionally, with Wilson or Novak mags, JHP will take a nose dive into the ramp, and it appears if the mag rode a little higher, that would not be an issue. Is it possible to modify the 1911 for the mag to ride higher? Thanks.
cking
When 10 rounders came out, somebody marketed a high ride mag release. But I can't remember the manufacture. Supposedly it locked the mags higher in the body
bountyhunter
Is it possible for the 1911 magazine to be riding too low? Yes, it's also possible to lock them in too high which causes other problems. What caliber and type of 1911? Joe4d
the mag release does wear out eventually which would drop mag down a little. Also different mags have cut different, which is probably why magazines are love hate, one shooter swears by wilson, another tripp, another metalform, etc etc. the tolerance of that particular manufacturer happens to match the tollerance of the individual gun. bountyhunter
I was going to say, you might try the mag release that STI uses. many have complained it holds the mags too high. I had to file the notches on my mags for my STI because they rode too high.
