1911 External Extractor Fit

I don't have much experience with external extractors on 1911s, but I would say that if you're ammo is good, you shouldn't get any setback at all. If you're getting setback, it's unlikely that it will happen consistently, so the pressures will be all over the place, which will do the same to velocity and it's unlikely you'll get good accuracy. If you're using loads near the max, you could actually be running in the red zone that way as well.

Setback has nothing to do with your extractor. Stop using the Novak magazines that came with the gun and try something else. Its a magazine issue if your ramp/depth angle is correct.

Way to test hypothesis

1)Remove extractor and try slide lock feeding again..you will still have the setback..
