I know there is a reason but can't recall at the moment. Shooting a Springfield at the Nationals is advantageous due to better prize if you win or what? I know Springfield is the match sponsor. I seem to recall win your class with a Springer win a custom gun win with anything else you win a Mil- spec. Is that correct? is it the same way this year?

I don't know what they will be doing this year... but ever since Springfield took over sponsorship. They draw names for guns.

The people shooting "springers" last year tripled their odds of winning a gun.

Like a fool.. I left a perfectly wonderful Trophy Match in the car and shot my Kimber (poorly).... and ended up with a tee shirt as my only "win".

I'd suggest shooting the gun you shoot best..... but the odds favor SA shooters.... when it comes to toys.

Actually, the Springers are sort of a contingency prize for the class winners, who (last year) actually won a SA GI. By shooting a Springfield, they could then swap it for a custom built gun, 1 was Heinie, 1 by Heinie employee (Matt Davis), one by Yost-Bonitz, 1 by Dave Williams (SA Custom) and I can't remember the others. The GIs were then given out by raffle tickets that were passed out earlier. Something like 15-18 guns were distributed. I believe it will be the same this year, but have not heard the details, so if it isn't NEVER MIND.
