Preventing A Serendipity From Cracking

Im getting ready to install my first C-More Serendipity. I've read a lot about the mount cracking if you torque it down too much.

Has anyone tried putting a metal spacer/washer between the screws and the Serendipity in order to spread the load over a larger area (essentially it would be sandwiching the Serendipity between the metal washer and the gun)? Having 4 washers on the ouside would look dorky, however, a nicely shaped, thin, metal piece that spanned the entire length of the pad, shaped like the pad, may not look too bad.

They should be snug/firm, but not dead tight.... If the holes are drilled right in the frame, there shouldn't be any extra strange pressures... shouldn't be a problem.... Just don't be a gorilla on them :)
