Dusty
I have an old Browning A5 that I am refinishing the stock. It is very old and after removing the old finish it still has black water stains in the wood. I remember along time ago I was reading an article somewhere that there was something you could put on the wood to bleach it out, but you had to stain it afterwards since it would lighten the color of the wood too much. Anybody know what it is? Any other Ideas? I tried sanding them out, but they are pretty deep. Thanks, Dusty
tightloop
Don't do it...those black stains give the wood its character and appeal... Do you know what a chunk of french walnut with those mineral stains in it costs today..? just sand the stock smooth and refinish it...do not worry about the rest..you'll love it..and besides, it would not look right with a spanking new looking stock and a rather used metal portion...Just my .o2
