IDPA rule question

Recommended Posts

I was thinking of having my backup bullseye 45 turned into a CDP gun by having the scope mount that is mounted on the slide removed and having conventional front & rear sights installed.

The question is -

Will this gun be legal for IDPA CDP ... since the slide will have 4 holes (where the slide was tapped & drilled) that were used for the scope mount???

Thanks for your input,

Ok - this is a stretch but under the inclusive lists of modifications permitted is the following;

INCLUSIVE list of permitted modifications:  (If it's not on this list, it can't be used in Defensive Pistol competition.)

Change of sights to another notch and post type

Sooo, you are changing the sights from an optic to a post/notch right ??

man ,the gamer is starting to rub off on me - you guys are a bad influence

Mark,

What they're saying is you CAN change sights from one post/notch type to another post/notch type. And if you can do that, you can certainly take a gun that doesn't have post/notch sights and install them. As for the holes, IDPA High Command has its head screwed on pretty straight, contrary to some opinions. I can't imagine them disallowing victor6's gun based on the four holes. Vic: e-mail them a query....then run off a copy of the reply and save it, just in case you need it out at the match.

The answer from the IDPA is (from Dru Robbins) -

You can put iron sights on your gun and shoot it in IDPA.  If you slide

were

skeletonized, you wouldn't be able to use it, but if you're just

removing

optical sights, that's fine.  As long as the gun fits division criteria

and

the purpose and principles of IDPA, go for it.

So it looks like I'm set to go ...

Thanks again for everyones reponses,

Victor6
