Sean Gaines
want to replace the slotte with allen, torx, star something other than slotted. It might be easier just to call Smith and Wesson directly, and ask them.
bountyhunter
The head diameter is too small to make Torx, star, allen etc feasible. The screws are good but you need a dedicated screwdriver with a fairly thick blade yet a narroe head width. I bought a craftsman screwdriver which had the perfect blade thickness and filed the sides to match the screw head width. I keep it on my bench just for SW sideplates. Jaxshooter
You can get replacement screws from Brownells. They stock them in blue and stainless steel. You can also order a scredriver with 4 interchangable bits made to fit S&W Revolvers at the sametime.
cking
Brownells has socket head screws just took me awhile to find them. Turns out they are 5/44 in 3/16 and 1/4 length. depending on frame size.
