IMR only lists 1 loading for Trail Boss, 230 gr lead at 4.5 gr max.

My test used 2 bullets; a 230 gr Laser Cast & a 225 gr MasterBlaster.

MasterBlaster Poly 225RN Dia .452 Length .648-.652 Wt 225.2-227.2 Ave 226.2

Sample size 24 Bullets each type

Winchester case & nickle colored WLP primer

3 Test Guns

Peters Custom w/Schuemann barrel ~5000 rounds 3.8gr Clays 230LC ave 742fps

Para-Ordnance P14-45 Limited ~500 rounds 3.8gr Clays 230 LC 748

Springfield 1911-A1 Loaded ~500 rounds 3.8gr Clays 230LC ave 780

+1

Tried 4.3 and 4.4 with Winchester brass and primer and a 230 Precision bullet. Averaged 167pf in a Springfield 5" 1911-A1 loaded. 3.8 of Clays with the Precision bullet gives me 740.

This powder had a strange shooting feel to it. Hard to describe but I didn't like it. Figured loading to max wasn't going to get to a comfortable major so I stopped development.

I've got some Trail Boss loaded to try in a S&W 642. We'll see how that goes.

It made major in my gun. and did not seem to be as dirty as titegroup.

I have a post around here with my results.
