Ted Murphy
Hello, Been playing with my S&W 28 4". I think I'm going to shoot it a bit in IDPA ESR and USPSA revolver with major loads. Anyone try a 180 grain cast bullet? If so, what suggestions for powder could you make? TIA, Ted Edited February 2, 2006 by Ted Murphy
revchuck
Ted - No info on a 180 grain bullet, but you might like this 200 grain one: http://www.magnusbullets.com/images/bullet...os/image507.jpg Alliant has data for this bullet weight for both major and minor loads. Ted Murphy
Shop down the way from me does a 180 grain bullet for $34.00/1000 and no shipping. I wish they did a 200 grain. Ted
Patrick Sweeney
As I recall, Alliant loading data has listings for 180 and 200 grain bullets. Considering how little you have to push them to, and how high the .357 pressure ceiling is, you could simply work up from .38 Special +P loading data to get where you need to be. I mean, a 180 has to be going a whopping 916 fps to make Major. Of course standard rule #1 applies: use a chronograph.
