aerosigns
Other than purchasing the Chamfering tool from Brownells, or sending it out to one of the gunsmith shops, does anyone have any other options for chamfering a revolver cylinder? In Jerry's video he even shows using a 3 sided file. Jim
spook
I used a small round file and did it myself. Just take it easy and don't chamfer too much. A little chamfer that has .001" more diameter than the case mouth is sufficient. If you chamfer too much, you can get the cases to "skip a chamber" when you reload fast (case 1 will be in chamber 1 and case 3 will be in chamber 3). AzShooter
A round stone would work to just break the edge. If you want you could yous a Dremel with a craytex wheel but be very careful and don't take off too much.
aerosigns
Problem Solved!!! I found about the cheapest way to chamfer a cylinder. A 3 pc. countersink set (item 7939-1VGA) from Harbor Freight Tools. Total cost $4.99 Took about 5 minutes by hand to complete chamfer, then a few minutes of buffing to polish up the job. The 1/2 bit is the same size as a .45 charge hole, but perfect for a .38 / .357. A little sanding on the 5/8" bit should be bring that bit to size for the .45.
