Davecoff13
I have a first gen M&P in 40 and was wondering if/does Smith and Wesson have a round count recommendation for barrel replacement? Or how about the community when do you, if you do ? Thanks in advance
Carbine_Philosophy
People in this forum usually swap out barrels either because they want better accuracy via a gunsmith-fit barrel, or because they want to compete in different divisions. I don't think I've ever seen any evidence of an M&P barrel ever wearing out anywhere. I've seen at least one report of a frame breaking after hitting north of 10K rounds, but never the barrels. EDIT: I can't even find the article I found of the M&P failure after 10K from years back. Edited February 17, 2023 by Carbine_Philosophy
