Was supposed to take place in Iowa, 1931. One of the characters breaks out a 1911 with race hammer and beavertail grip safety. Could have been the best series on Netflix but I'll never know because I had to turn it off. You can comfortably go back and finish watching the series. There were a number of gunsmiths even as far back as early 1931 that were customizing 1911's. Hyman S. Lebman was making full-auto 1911's. Some were in 45ACP and at least a couple in 38 Super. https://www.guns.com/news/2012/09/26/lebman-1911-machine-pistol I'm sure there were other lesser know gunsmiths who could have built the 1911 with modified hammers and extended grips safety/frames to prevent hammer bite and better sights.
