Ruger Mark frontstrap checkering

Cheap front strap checkering! I bought Wilson Combat's 100B checkered frontstrap for my 1911 and it worked great. I bought another for my Ruger Mark III and it works awesome! You need to bend it a bit and really press it down on the edges (I used the handle of the screwdriver I removed the grips with) before tightening the grip back on. The results are custom!

No, skateboard tape has a pretty strong adhesive and as long as I don't drench it in solvent it stays put.  I do "field strip" the gun for cleaning meaning removing the receiver/barrel from the frame and removing the bolt.  I certainly don't disassemble the receiver routinely.  Occasionally I spray the receiver out with Birchwood-Casey "Gun Scrubber", let it dry and relube but the tape stays in place.
