MuayThaiJJ
Hey guys, I am considering grabbing this beast in 45acp. I live in a gun hating state that doesn't allow threaded barrels unless it is permanently attached. How is this comp attached? I did Google it and couldn't find anything solid. thanks! CompleteJack
Factory Tanfoglio compensators are threaded on, so they're not technically permanently attached.
MuayThaiJJ
EAA and J&L Gunsmithing confirmed, comps are permanently attached. Removing them would destroy the threading:

Removing them would destroy the threading: with the comp being aluminum it is unlikely that it would hurt the barrel even if whatever locktite they use damaged the comp threads upon removal. but if it says that on the Tanfoglio web page it is probably good enough for the idiots running the state. MuayThaiJJ
Yes, apparently Tanfoglio silver solders their compensators. So that's good, it abides by CA standards as "permanent." J&L Gunsmithing verified it as silver solder as well. https://forums.brianenos.com/topic/138303-witness-gold-custom-spare-barrel-compensator-installation/

I'm not a welder so I had to Google, but apparently it's common: https://www.google.com/search?q=silver+solder+aluminum+to+steel
