ChuckS Posted October 31, 2005 Share Posted October 31, 2005 Ren, The tread on the die (assuming not a Square Deal) is 7/8 x 14. That means 14 theads per inch or 1/14 inch per thread or 0.071" per thread. Having said that, put some sort of reference mark on the die, turn it one revolution, secure it and make a dummy round (make sure there is a case under the sizing die to add the normal resistance) and measure it. That's what your press does. If you are going to be messing around with OAL a lot, you might want to look into a Redding Competition Seating Die that has a micrometer that you can zero to a reference length and then adjust in +/- 0.001" increments off that length. Makes it easy since you don't have to deal with the slop that you get when you loosen the lock nut. Have fun, Chuck Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
