Miranda
I some times spend a little while in the this part of the year to consider what I would like to do or explore in the next year. I think a primer tube filler would be a fun project. or a gooder bullet feeder may be satisfying I will look at what is available and why I think somehow I can do better than what is available. it is hard to beat a lee bullet feeder in terms of price. but there has to be a better way. the alternate die style? I do not like the loss of the powder check AND the lack of seeing powder in the case... I saw a photo somewhere (I can't find now) of a disk up near the mouth of the seating die Turning bullets into the die mouth, sorta like a turret press top. I have been thinking that idea has some merit I doubt it would be cheaper... the primer filler is even more all over the place a flip tray and poke the primers is pretty cheap. so I thought a x-y crane and poke the primers could be fun. not cheap or fast however. I also wondered if the laser sighting optics would pop the primer compound. I am not sure I like the vibrator sound or the clic-click sounds of the current options. some cogitation fodder... miranda
Intheshaw1
I bought a 3d printer to play around with primer fillers and eventually make case and bullet feeders. I can make a primer filler similar to the vibra prime for 20 bucks and have spare parts to make another if I wanted. I'm tossing around the idea of printing 2 and making some sort of stand for them. I already picked up 12 feet of aluminum tubing to make primer tubes and designed and printed the blue filler ends and made a cap for the other end. Miranda
the 3d printer will get you a case and bullet collator. the control switch and drop tubes can use some attention. what kind of printer did you get? Have bought a few dillon primer tubes so I have spares there. you like the vibra- prime? the videos I have seen sound loud to me. There are ways to add quiet to such items. I guess I'd want cheaper or better. ... 'course that means figuring out how. maybe just make one and see how it sounds is a solution. in reading back, I can see I was not clear that the bullet feeder in the powder check station is a problem for me. a 3d printer may well be a way to build an idea or two. miranda Edited December 27, 2020 by Miranda left out a word...
