We have been thinking about building a pump shotgun package for heavy metal probably based on the Remington 870. What features would you guys like to see on something like that?

What I would do:

BARREL

- Flip up rear sight on the vent rib.

- Fiber optic front

- Mid-bead available when rear is flipped down

- 21"

- Tapped for chokes

General

- Smooth action

- Smooth feeding area and action (for hand loading)

- Large safety button

- Front sling attachment via the magtube attachment area (no barrel band)

- Rear QD sling stud

- Extended/bigger action release for easier relase

- Slick buttpad. (Don't want it to grab or snag on to my shirt.)

Personal Changes

- Shortened stock 1-2"

- ...or Knoxx SpecOps Stock which reduces recoil, allows LOP changes and

IMHO handles better for reloading (weakhand) and for easier shortening

and stretching of the shotgun.

How about keeping the price reasonable as one of the criteria?

RS nailed it. I will reinforce it.

- FO front bead (offer other sight options but make this the basic setup)

- +4 Mag Ext.

- Cut bbl to 21" and thread for Rem-Chokes (supply IC and Mod)

- De-horn butt stock (round top to prevent snagging on speed mount)

- De-horn the loading path

- Lap and polish action until it is smooth as glass

- Smooth and lighten trigger until it is nice and crisp
