Carmoney
Very familiar with this problem. The indexer (plastic/steel part that flicks the shell plate around) is getting grooved and worn. Dillon's latest version of this part is much harder and lasting much longer, but they still wear out over time. Replace the indexer and it will all go away. To get enough ammo for Saturday's match, he can help it around with his thumb, making sure the shellplate indexes completely before completing the upstroke. dillon
Another more likely possibility is that the primer cup and punch aren't fully seated in the primer slide. If you have a pair of calipers, measure from the underside of the primer slide to the top of the primer cup. It should measure 1.410", +/- .003". If too tall, use a clamp or vise to fully reseat the cup and punch, then retighten the set screw. If the cup is too tall, then it tries to come up through the hole in the shellplate before the shellplate is aligned. Regarding the parts you feel need replacing, it truly depends on what parts you feel need replacing. There are some parts that we will not send out, either due to their replacement requiring a special tool or fixture for installation, or due to the fact that they are not a normal wear item, or if they are a major part, such as a frame or shaft. For repair work requiring the machine to be sent in, there is no charge. However, we are seeing a huge increase in customers purchasing a used reloader, and not knowing if anything is wrong, send it in to be cleaned and lubed and generally looked over. For this we do charge $29.95, which covers only our return shipping and boxing materials costs.
TBF
What Dillon said , plus make sure the shell plate is moving freely on the screw in the center, someties powder and crud , or overtightening of this screw can cause the shell plate to drag a little and the ball bearing under the plate does not align the plate properly. If you are missing the bearing that will also cause problems ( don't ask )' I had this problem and could see the priming rod rubbing on the insert that holds the primer in the center, when every thing finally lined up the spring under the cup launched the primer just as you described.
