DougCarden
I know that it is not "Mainstream" but my steel loads in 38spec are with Nitro 100. It is a fast burning shotgun powder that works really well in the 38 special, plus it is accurate to boot! I use it with 158gr bullets for stock, and 110s and 125s for open revo. For steel I am at the point that I want a load that is dead nuts accurate, then I worry about how it "feels" This powder is accurate and "feels" good too. Give it a try, it is cheap compared to VV powders that I love!
R112mercer
I just got my Short Colt brass from Starline. I'm going to try Montana's 125 FMJ .38 Super bullet over 4.0 of W231. I use 4.0 of W231 in my 9mm with a 147 gr. head, so I figure this should be a good low pressure starting point. Any thoughts? I also have Clays (too fast), N320, and N340 on hand. D.carden
Rob, I'm a hodgdon fan. There powders are cleaner burning with the lead/moly's I use. Universal Clays is about the same speed as 231. Worth a try!!!! Dan
