Honkeymcgee
I picked up a prefit 38 Super barrel for a hell of a deal, to put in my STI Trojan when I'm out hunting. Anyone have experience with normal loads using the typical powders used for major loads? I've got N350, HS6, CFE pistol, and 3n38 at the house. Plan is to use a 124 xtp and load some ammo that's got some ass behind it but not crazy.
superdude
All those powders can be used to make Major. I presume your barrel is ramped? Data for 3N38 can be found at Vihtavuori under 38 Super Lapua,, and it will usually make Major at or near standard pressure. 3N38 has produced excellent accuracy in my pistol with 115 and 124/5 grain bullets. The other powders might need to be pushed to +P pressure to make Major, but that's no problem if you have a ramped barrel and strong brass.
