Miggz55
Hey all. New to the forums and fairly new at reloading. I’m using a Hornady LnL progressive press with Hornady custom grade dies to load 9mm and 223. After loading 9mm, I always case check every round on the Lyman pistol case checker block. My question for the experienced reloaders is: when checking the cases, do they need to slide in and out without ANY effort? Or is it acceptable if it goes in with some light pressure from your finger? I think I already now the answer, but I’m curious to know what y’all think. I believe the tail of some of the cases can get marred from being on the concrete at the range. Any light scratches on the rim could prevent the cases from sliding in and out easily. Steve RA
Pick one that requires some drag and try it in your chamber, if it plunks and can be rotated then it's slight drag in the checker block is OK. If it doesn't work in the chamber then it is not all right.
Miggz55
Thanks. Will give that a shot! After posting, I looked at the recently loaded cases and I may need a slightly tighter crimp. Using .356 pills... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Miggz55
Tightened up the crimp and that seemed to get the job done. Thanks for the advice!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
