ParaLarry
Just upgraded to a 650 in 9mm. That will be 90% of my loading.Need to load 1k of .40, I already have a 550 tool head setup with powder measure. Besides a new 650 tool head and shell plate, what else do I need? Can the 550 powder measure and die and locator pins work on the 650?Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
stick
The 550 will not interchange with the 650 except for the dies. You need a caliber conversion kit (assuming you already have the dies) and a powder measure. If you plan on loading multiple calibers, here's a conversion chart to help you with parts. http://thegunwiki.com/apps/calconversion/index.asp?machine_1=on&go=Choose+Machines
ParaLarry
Thanks for the link, stick. Looks like all I need are casefeeder parts and the Dillon conversion kit with shell plate and pins etc. My powder measure will work for the 650, that was the most expensive part I can save on. (and don’t have to reset the charge) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
muncie21
A couple of the 550 parts are the same as on the 650. For example the 9mm powder funnel ( #F Powder Funnel - # 13806) is the same part number between the 550 and the 650. Below are links to the PNs for all 550 and 650 caliber conversions. It may be cheaper to just buy the 650 quick change (powder dispenser, die, toolhead and stand) versus individual parts, but check for yourself. http://dillonprecision.com/docs/caliberconversioncharts/XL_650_Caliber_Conversion_Chart.pdf http://dillonprecision.com/docs/caliberconversioncharts/450_and_550_Series_Caliber_Conversion_Charts.pdf
