fmiller
I'm in a bit of a quandry - I have a CZ75 which I love. I do not love that it has no rail, since I would like to start keeping a gun by the bedside with a light on it. But, I do have my 9mm Match. Can any of you think of reason NOT to use this as an HD gun? I've always considered it a range toy... Thanks f
MemphisMechanic
If it hasn't been hot-rodded with lighter springs and eats your chosen defense ammo flawlessly, nope. No reason at all.
fmiller
That's kind of what I figured.... Just a concept thing I guess; for me the Witness is a paper puncher whereas something like a Glock is a bona fide WEAPON. The truth of course is that they both do the same thing. Which means, I guess, that get to sleep next to my OTHER sweetheart now... f
ryridesmotox
Whatever semi auto you choose to use as a defensive gun... Get several types of ammo and test for functionality. I can't emphasize that enough. Use something like Hornady critical defense, Underwood with XTPs, Winchester PDX1, Corbon +P JHPs... Test to make sure it runs well with your mags and chosen cartridges. God forbid, if you actually have to use it, that would be a horrible time to find out the ammo won't feed. Nothing worse in a gunfight than a gun that wont fight. Then it just becomes a small, somewhat useless blunt force object.
MemphisMechanic
My personal preference is Federal HST. Not only is it one of the most reliable modern hollowpoint bullet designs out there... it's also gotta be loaded with Federal primers. I would want federal primers in match ammo for Nationals. That means I damn sure want them in my carry ammo. Not that it matters - my guns eat CCIs (Speer Gold Dot) juuuust fine.
