Daniele
Got a deal , Dillon xl 650 at fantastic price, BUT it is in 45 ACP caliber and I need it in 38 Short Colt. Looking at Dillon manual I found something I need, but still I am not sure on several parts needed for this odd caliber. Anyone out there did the conversion? Is it better to look at 9mm parts or 38 Spl parts?
mikeinctown
You'll need the proper caliber conversion and dies plus the case feed plate if the 38 requires the small. 45 is a very popular cartridge and should be easy enough to sell both the conversion kit and dies. Daniele
there is not a 38 Short colt conversion. 38 Spl need a large pistol case feed plate , but the SC is short like the 9mm which require a small pistol one. And that is just one part, so I put the question to the experts
dillon
Actually, due to the rim diameter of the case, 38 SC uses the large pistol case feed plate, the same as 45ACP uses. Most of the conversion parts are the same as 38 Special. #2 shellplate, #2 locator buttons, #2 station one locator, red CF arm bushing, 38/357 case feed body bushing. Use the 40 S&W case feed adapter (purple), and the 9mm powder funnel (F)
Daniele
Just finished first lot of 38 Short Colt reloads on the XL650 with all the parts you suggested, all OK! Thank you!
