This seems to indicate that only the listed features and mods are permitted. I don't think there is any way for the rule book to cover all of the things that we can come up with as shooters. If you do it and have it refinished, who will know? I have much less of a problem with people trying to make their existing gear legal than people who are trying to skirt the rules to gain a competitive advantage. I have seen this question several times on different forums, so I just submitted it to HQ for an official opinion.
