Spring installation and detail cleaning complete last night... I'll post some results when I get to shoot the gun again, hopefully tomorrow.

I still haven't had time to compare slide motion sans recoil spring, so that is still on the list too.

All new springs (potentially different rates particularly on the hammer spring) helped, but did not solve the problem. 2 stovepipes in about 530 rounds so far. About half the rate as before.

You can probably get out of if for around what it would cost to replace. Might be time to let it be someone else's problem.

could it be by any chance that its old brass with some bulging?

In my tanfo v12 Eric custom. Just snapped in half. To be fair that gun is running 124gn pill (38 super) at near 1400 fps. I've not snapped one in my stock 2. Have snapped one in my cz shadow.

I wonder if there is any follow-up on how the stovepipe mystery was finally solved? I am having similar problems, though my gun is fairly new. Thanks.
