jmaracing
Saw it in Front Site a few years ago. Wished I'd bought one then. Any idea who makes it and where I can get my hands on one? jma
jmaracing
The Turbo-bearing here is pretty much what I was thinking of. Anyone used it? http://www.slashk.com/dillon.html

straightshooter1
Just noticed this thread. I bought one of these doodads, still have it in a drawer on my bench. I never could see any benefit to it. I bought it a long time ago, more than ten years I am sure and probably in the early 90s IIRC. I have 10 or so of the Slash K powder adjustments and they work perfectly, but this thing just never did anything I could observe or notice. I kinda remember calling them about it, can't recall what they said. Don't recall being unhappy with it or them, just that I could see no advantage, no improvement. Next time I load, I will put it in and see if there is any improvement. Problem is, what's to improve? Bob
ChuckS
I like gadgets as much as the next guy but I am not sure what this does for you. The website says: "TURBO-BEARING for Dillon 550b will smooth the indexing and reduce the play and wobble in the shell plate ONLY $ 29.95 + shipping" For me, smooth indexing came from keeping the bottom side of the shellplate and the topside of the ram clean. Play and wobble was reduced by proper adjustment of the set screw. I just don't see the need. The powder adjust knob looks interesting but I just went with the Home Depot approach. What would be cool would be some sort of sealed linear bearing for the primer slide! Later, Chuck Edited May 14, 2006 by ChuckS

I'd like one and if you don't think it ads value, let me know what you want for it. dk
straightshooter1
Just saw this last post, I will PM you for address, etc. I will send it to you for nothing. I am not using it. Don't have the instructions, but it pretty simple. Bob

If it does something, please post results (maybe even if it doesn't).Bob Hey Bob, I finally installed the "star with bearings" and it does make a difference. I know some people with 550's have to leave slop in the star to make everything work, and you end up with inconsistant primer depth and other less than optimal relationships. This takes care of that. I adjusted it and now it works as before, only with less slop. I like it. I think rifle shooters and revolver shooters would benefit the most, but this 40 shooter would say I give it a thumbs up. jma
straightshooter1
Glad you like it. Like I said, it had been in my reloading drawer for years, not getting any use. I just could not see a difference when I used it. I am impressed that you notice the difference so much. Maybe I was (am) just so used to the feel of the 550 I don't pay attention to any inconsistencies. Wonder if any other members have one and if they like it compared to the factory set op. Again-glad you enjoy using it. Best, Bob
