Smitty79
I know a shooting forum is a strange place to discuss virus removal. But here goes. I am running a PC with the full Norton Suite. I regularly see my Firefox browser redirected to safedownloadsrus site where it asks me to install the latest version of Java. I am smart enough not to click that link. Norton seems useless to remove this problem. When I do searches of how to remove this, I get sites that go into great descriptions of what this problem is and their solution to remove it is always download their cleaning software. I am always concerned that all I will be doing is trading one problem for another or just adding a new one. Does anyone have a good way to get rid of safedownloadsrus virus? nhjeffs
Do you use anti-malware software? I've had good luck with the Malwarebytes program. http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Adam B
First thing you need to do is get rid of Norton, it is no better than the free av that comes with windows and most of the time it is worse. To remove pretty much any malware download and run Combofix http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/combofix/dl/12/ If your infection is bad I would suggest booting into safe mode and running combofix
Smitty79
I did the malwarebytes yesterday and haven't seen anything since. Thanks.

bountyhunter
I am using the free AVG anti virus program for years and so far it has killed every virus trying to get my computer.
Front Man
If you can reboot your computer to Safe Mode you don't have a killer virus but you still have one.
